David Laube is a Senior Associate at the Bloomington, IL office of GCG Financial. In 2002, he merged The Heartland Firm, Inc. he had founded in 1991, with GCG Financial. David's clients benefit from his more than twenty-five years of financial consulting experience by his ability to help them solve complicated financial problems with innovative and customized solutions. David works with individuals, families, business owners and professionals as well as small companies. Having worked with such a diverse client base for so many years, he brings an educated perspective to estate, pension, business continuation, executive compensation strategies and employee benefit programs.
David earned an M.A. in Rhetorical Communication from the University of Iowa in 1979 and a B.A. in English/Speech from the University of Northern Iowa in 1973. He is a graduate of the Purdue College of Management from Purdue University as well as a graduate of the Leadership Forum from American College in Bryn Mawr, PA.
David is a Registered Representative and offers securities and investment advisory services through Securian Financial Services, Inc. He holds registrations for series 7, 65 and 24, among others. His professional designations include the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Certified Funds Specialist (CFS) and Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC). He is currently pursuing his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
David has been a qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) since 1998 as well as founder and first president of the Business Network International, Bloomington. Always concerned with giving something back to the community, he served on the board for the College of Business at Illinois State University and was a member of the Governing Board for the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. He is also past president for Bloomington's Optimist Club and was President of the Year, State of Illinois in 1999-2000. David was President of the Board for the American Marketing Association (2009-10) and also a member of the Bloomington-Normal Human Resource Council. He served as the Chairman for the Heart Walk Committee for the American Heart Association in 2009. A prolific writer, David has been published in many local industry publications with articles about financial planning and other investment issues. David also teaches as an adjunct professor at Illinois State University College of Business and at Millikin University, Department of Speech Communications.
David lives in Bloomington and has two daughters, Autumn (and grandson, Leo) and Sarah. In his free time he enjoys traveling, golfing, collecting art, reading non-fiction, cycling and doing charitable work in the community.
